Who is James Tupper? The actor spotted with Lori Loughlin before her split

Actor James Tupper has been trending online after being spotted with Lori Loughlin just one day before reports surfaced about her split from husband Mossimo Giannulli.

According to E! News, on October 1, the two were seen together at The Bird Streets Club in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. They were photographed having dinner during their outing. Soon after, Loughlin’s representative clarified the rumors, telling US Weekly,
“Lori and James have worked together and are old friends.”

The sighting came right before reports of Loughlin’s separation from her husband Giannulli, with whom she shares two daughters. As per People Magazine, the couple had been married for almost 28 years, though they have not yet begun any legal process to formalize their split.

James Tupper is best known for his role in HBO’s Big Little Lies, alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. He played Nathan Carlson, the former husband of Witherspoon’s character, Madeline Mackenzie. The series has been renewed for a third season.

Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, Tupper spent his early years surrounded by nature. According to US Weekly, he faced challenges growing up, especially with his mother’s struggles.

At the start of his acting career, Tupper appeared in small roles in shows like Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, and CSI: NY, as listed on IMDb. He gained wider fame through the show Men in Trees, where he met actress Anne Heche.

As reported by Today.com, both were married when they met, but later fell in love. Heche once said in an interview with Access Hollywood,
“I’ve found friendships with people here and I certainly found a friendship with James… we just were lucky enough to fall in love.”

The two had a son named Atlas and stayed together for nearly ten years before announcing their split in 2018. In a joint statement to People Magazine, they said,
“James and I have shared a great life together and have many wonderful memories… Relationships change and grow; we’re taking time for that.”

Sadly, tragedy struck when Anne Heche passed away in a car crash in 2022, as reported by US Weekly. Since then, Tupper has been raising their son as a dedicated single parent.

As for his friendship with Lori Loughlin, the pair have worked together in Great American Family films, including Fall Into Winter and A Christmas Blessing, where their bond reportedly grew stronger through collaboration.
