BISP stops payments in October 2025 – two-year beneficiaries must update survey

14 October, 2025 16:52

In October 2025, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) announced that payments for thousands of beneficiaries across Pakistan have been temporarily stopped.

This action affects individuals who have been receiving support for the past two years but did not complete their dynamic survey update.

Why the Payments Were Stopped

BISP explained that this step is part of its ongoing data verification process under the Benazir Kafalat Program. The goal is to ensure that only eligible and deserving families continue to receive financial help.

The dynamic survey helps BISP update information such as income, family size, and employment status. If a beneficiary’s data has not been updated in the last two years, their record is marked as “unverified,” and payments are paused until the survey is completed.

Main Reasons for Payment Suspension

  • Not completing the BISP dynamic survey after two years.

  • Outdated or incorrect household or income details.

  • CNIC not verified or expired.

  • No longer qualifying under the new poverty score (PMT).

What Is the Dynamic Survey?

The Benazir Dynamic Survey is a verification process where families share updated details about their:

  • Family members

  • Monthly income and job status

  • Education level

  • Property or asset ownership

This data helps determine whether a household still qualifies for BISP aid.

Who Is Affected

Those most affected are people who:

  • Have been receiving BISP payments since 2023 or earlier.

  • Did not visit their nearest BISP Tehsil Office for updates.

  • Ignored survey reminder messages sent through 8171.

Many believed they didn’t need to update their information, but the BISP system automatically flags old records, resulting in payment suspension.

How to Check If Your Payment Is Stopped

You can check your BISP payment status in three simple ways:

  1. 8171 Web Portal:

    • Visit the 8171 web portal.

    • Enter your CNIC number and verification code to see your status.

  2. SMS Check:

    • Send your CNIC number to 8171.

    • You’ll get a message confirming if your payments are active or stopped.

  3. Visit BISP Tehsil Office:

    • If your payment is stopped, go to your nearest BISP office to complete your dynamic survey.

How to Reactivate Your BISP Payments

Follow these steps to restart your payments:

Step 1: Visit your nearest BISP Tehsil Office with:

  • Original CNIC

  • CNICs of family members

  • Electricity or gas bill (if available)

  • Proof of income (if applicable)

Step 2: Complete the dynamic survey with a BISP representative.

Step 3: Wait for NADRA and BISP verification — this may take a few weeks.

Step 4: Once approved, your payment status will turn “Active”, and you’ll begin receiving installments again in your Benazir Kafalat account.

This update aims to keep the BISP system fair, transparent, and focused on helping the families who truly need support.
