Was Cheryl Hines Democrat? Actress Speaks on RFK Jr. and MAHA Movement

14 October, 2025 14:31

Cheryl Hines, widely known for her acting career and past Democratic leanings, has publicly expressed support for her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as he leads the Trump administration’s “MAHA” initiative — Make America Healthy Again. Hines made the remarks during a Fox News interview with Jesse Watters on Monday, October 13, 2025.

RFK Jr., who was confirmed earlier this year as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, has sparked significant policy changes, and Hines praised his leadership in areas such as food safety and public health reforms. “And it’s so amazing to have Bobby leading the MAHA movement and watching some of the things that he’s accomplished, like getting rid of petroleum-based dyes in food, getting rid of ingredients in our food that other countries don’t allow, looking at baby formula and getting rid of arsenic and lead that’s in it… I’m really proud that Bobby is the person leading the charge,” she said.

Hines’ comments come after her visible political transformation. Once a vocal critic of former President Trump and a self-declared Democrat, Hines now aligns herself with the Republican administration. Speaking on the shift, she said: “You know, President Trump and Bobby have a lot in common. They have very similar goals. And when they got together, they decided, ‘Yeah, we should work together.’ And so suddenly Bobby is now in the middle of a Republican administration.”

When asked if she personally adopts the MAHA lifestyle, Hines responded: “I do think it’s a lifestyle, and I do think I lead a healthy lifestyle. So for me, it’s less about every tiny little thing… I don’t work out every day. But you know, overall, going through the day, I’m trying to make healthy choices and do what’s best for my body… That’s basically it.”

Her appearance follows RFK Jr.’s controversial decision to terminate over 1,000 employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including key personnel in disease response and global health coordination. The move has dismantled major CDC operations and drew sharp criticism from former officials.

Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, former director of the CDC’s National Center on Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, condemned the firings as an “unscientific takeover” of the agency. “CDC is over. It was killed. This administration only knows how to break things. They have made America at risk for outbreaks and attacks by nefarious players. People should be scared,” he said.

The staffing overhaul at the CDC is part of broader administrative shifts, as similar cuts have been reported across departments including Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, Energy, and Education.
