The engagement rumors originated after Flay shared an Instagram Story featuring Williamson’s hand casually tucked in her jean pocket, prominently displaying the sizeable diamond ring. Fans quickly speculated about a proposal. However, it was noted that Williamson had worn a similar ring previously, including during her September appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

From Friendship to Romance: Timeline and Public Appearances

The two culinary figures initially forged a bond through their collaboration on the Food Network series Bobby’s Triple Threat, which debuted in September 2022. At that time, Williamson was still legally married to her former husband, Nick Roberts, with whom she shares a son named Hudson. Their divorce was finalized in 2024. By March 2025, Flay and Williamson publicly confirmed their romantic relationship.

Since then, the pair have been increasingly visible in public together, attending notable events such as the U.S. Open, celebrating Brooke’s 47th birthday, and competing on Family Feud on the same day. According to a close source speaking to People magazine, the pair’s relationship evolved naturally from a longstanding friendship: “They have been friends for a while and recently decided to jump in. Her divorce last year probably gave them some additional shared experiences and over the last few weeks, love bloomed.”

Bobby Flay himself has been open about their connection, emphasizing their shared backgrounds as chefs and parents. Flay commented on the depth of their relationship: “We have a lot in common. We’re very lucky. We’re both chefs. We both have kids. We’re both parents. So it’s always been fun to kind of have her around because we’ve been friends, but now going forward, it’s a little bit different. So we’ll see what that brings.”

He further expressed appreciation for the unique dynamic they share: “One of the things I really like about being in a relationship with Brooke is that she’s great to bounce things off of.
