Who Is Corneel Koster? Meet the Next CEO of Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic has confirmed a major leadership change. On 1 January 2026, Corneel Koster will take over as the new Chief Executive Officer of the airline. He will replace Shai Weiss, who is stepping down after seven successful years in the role.

Who Is Corneel Koster?

Corneel Koster is currently Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Customer and Operating Officer. He has more than 30 years of experience in aviation. Over the years, he has worked with major airlines, including Delta Air Lines, Aeroméxico, and KLM. He first joined Virgin Atlantic in 2010 as Director of Operations, Safety, and Security.

He returned to the airline after gaining international experience and became a key leader, managing operations and customer services.

Virgin Atlantic’s Performance Under Shai Weiss

Shai Weiss played a strong role during some of the company’s toughest years. He guided Virgin Atlantic through the Covid-19 pandemic and helped the airline recover. Under his leadership, the airline achieved record revenue in 2024, earning £3.3 billion, boosted by a 7.6% increase in passenger capacity.

Virgin Atlantic was also named the UK’s only Global Five Star Operator by APEX and ranked No.1 Most Loved Workplace by Newsweek.
