Crocodile Found Resting in Five-Star Hotel Pool Leaves Social Media Astonished

19 October, 2025 13:10

An extraordinary incident unfolded in northeastern Australia when a crocodile unexpectedly appeared in the swimming pool of a five-star hotel, stunning onlookers and social media users alike.

The unusual occurrence took place at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, where, despite the reptile’s sudden presence, hotel guests remained unperturbed—relaxing calmly by the poolside and soaking up the sun as though nothing had happened.

A viral video circulating online shows a juvenile crocodile resting quietly beneath the water’s surface inside the pool.

‘No One Seems to Care’

TikTok user Lisa Keller, who filmed and shared the clip, remarked, “I don’t want to alarm anyone, but there’s a crocodile in the Sheraton pool.” The footage shows several tourists reclining on sun loungers, enjoying the warm sunlight, while notably, no one dares to enter the water. Keller expressed astonishment, saying that no one appeared to care at all.

Safety Measures and Rescue Operation

According to Hotel Manager Joseph Amiero, the crocodile was spotted on Saturday morning, after which the pool was immediately closed as a precautionary measure. He clarified that guests and the crocodile were never in the pool simultaneously.

Later, officers from Queensland Wildlife successfully captured and relocated the crocodile to a secure area. Warning signs were also installed around the vicinity to ensure visitor safety.

It is worth noting that northern Australia is home to an estimated over 100,000 saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, which occasionally venture into populated regions—prompting constant monitoring by local authorities.
