A large-scale internet outage has caused widespread disruptions, leading to the malfunctioning of several prominent apps and websites. Among the affected platforms are Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite, Amazon, Duolingo, and Canva, among others. According to the tracking portal Down Detector, numerous users reported technical difficulties while accessing these services.

Although these applications operate independently, they share a common infrastructure—Amazon Web Services (AWS)—which supports their digital operations. AWS, a leading cloud service provider, is believed to be at the center of the current issue that triggered the global outage.

Down Detector also indicated that other popular applications such as Clash Royale, Ring, Life360, PlayStation, Pokémon Go, MyFitnessPal, Coinbase, and HMRC experienced similar interruptions. The sudden disruption quickly drew widespread attention across social media platforms, particularly X. While many users observed that X continued functioning smoothly, others initially assumed their personal internet connections were at fault.

Numerous reactions poured in from users expressing their frustration and confusion. Several individuals shared similar sentiments about the widespread disruption, flooding social media with humorous and concerned remarks alike.

Further reports suggest that the outage originated from technical problems within Amazon Web Services. In response, various companies issued official statements addressing the situation. Coinbase, for instance, updated its users on X regarding the ongoing issue.

As reported by Sky News, several banking institutions were also impacted, highlighting the extent of the disruption across critical online services. Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland were among those reportedly affected. Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas also commented on the matter through a post on X.

Amazon Web Services confirmed that its engineering teams were actively investigating and working to resolve the issue. The company stated that “engineers were immediately engaged and are actively working on both mitigating the issue and fully understanding the root cause.” Meanwhile, users worldwide have continued sharing their experiences and updates on social media as the situation develops.
