Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah waives first e-challan, warns repeat violators
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that the first e-challan issued under the new e-ticketing system will be waived, but repeat violations will result in fines.
According to a report submitted by the IG Police, 35 government vehicles received e-challans for traffic violations such as not wearing seat belts, jumping red lights, using mobile phones while driving, and tinted glass.
During a briefing, the DIG Traffic shared that a government vehicle (SP AE 950) was fined Rs10,000 for not wearing a seat belt at two points on the Garden Lyari Expressway. The violation was automatically detected by the e-ticketing system.
The CM asked IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon for details of the first e-challans. The IG explained that first-time recipients can contact the authorities within 10 days to get the fine waived.
Murad Ali Shah said, “I have directed the waiver of the first challan; however, anyone who violates traffic rules again will have to pay the fine.”
He urged citizens to follow traffic laws for their own safety, saying that law-abiding behavior reflects a civilized society and that police officers are also not above the law.
The CM added that the Sindh Police’s e-ticketing system is proving successful, ensuring that all citizens are treated equally under the law.
