Explosion at CTD Police Station in Peshawar: One Official Martyred, Two Injured
Peshawar:A powerful explosion occurred at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Peshawar after old explosives stored in the evidence room detonated, resulting in the martyrdom of one officer and injuries to two others.
According to initial reports, the blast took place when old ammunition stored in the maal khana (evidence room) exploded due to a short circuit, triggering a fire and a series of smaller explosions.
CCPO Peshawar, Mian Saeed, said that four detainees present at the police station were safely moved to another location, and all officers and staff were evacuated from the building.
The explosion caused part of the structure to collapse, while security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched rescue and relief operations.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the blast, and efforts are underway to ensure no secondary explosions occur from remaining ammunition.
