Who is Todd Snider and what led to his arrest? Assault case explained

05 November, 2025 13:12

Country singer Todd Snider was taken into custody on November 2, 2025, after an alleged assault incident that reportedly happened a day earlier. According to NBC News, the Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating the matter.

People magazine reported that Todd Snider was released shortly after his arrest and did not have to pay any bail. However, he will need to appear in court whenever required.

Known for hit albums like Songs for the Daily Planet and East Nashville Skyline, Snider had been performing in his High, Lonesome and Then Some tour, which started last month to promote his new album. The tour was announced through his Instagram on October 24, 2025.

While the first concert in Colorado took place as planned, all remaining shows have now been cancelled after his recent legal trouble. The next show was scheduled in Utah, followed by eleven more dates this month.

Snider’s management company, Aimless Inc., announced the cancellation on social media, stating:

“Ahead of Todd Snider’s show in Salt Lake City, Todd sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel. Todd will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time.”

The company thanked fans for their support and mentioned that Snider is currently receiving medical care. New tour dates will be announced once he recovers.

Reports say the artist was targeted in the assault before being arrested. The incident reportedly took place at Holy Cross Hospital, where Snider had gone for treatment. Authorities told NBC News that Snider was discharged from the hospital even though he disagreed with it. Later, he allegedly returned and threatened the staff, saying he would assault them.

According to NBC News, Snider was arrested for disorderly conduct, trespassing, and making threats. His representatives have not commented yet.

An affidavit obtained by KSL stated that Snider was yelling/cursing at hospital staff and specifically threatened a medical professional who asked him to leave. He also used an expletive and got too close to the individual, according to the report.

Police confirmed they were called to investigate a report of a male being assaulted at the Commonwealth Room, but more details are yet to be shared.

Snider, who is 59 years old, recently told Rolling Stone that he wanted this to be the funnest tour yet. Over the years, he has built a loyal fan base through his albums like New Connection, Peace Queer, Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables, Eastside Bulldog, and Crank It, We’re Doomed. He is also an author, best known for his book I Never Met a Story I Didn’t Like.
