Inside story of Faisal Vawda and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s meeting
Sources have revealed that Senator Faisal Vawda met JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and briefed him about the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
During the meeting, Faisal Vawda praised Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s long-standing role in strengthening democracy and parliamentary traditions in Pakistan. He expressed hope that Maulana would continue to play the same positive and powerful role this time as well.
According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he had only heard about the proposed amendment through media and social media discussions. He emphasized that JUI-F is a strong political and parliamentary party and that they are “protectors of the Constitution.”
Maulana stressed that the draft of the constitutional amendment should be made public before any opinion can be given. He said that once the draft is shared, the party’s parliamentary team, legal experts, and central council (Shura) will review it carefully.
He further added that JUI-F would not rush to judgment and would analyze all aspects of the proposed changes before taking a final stance.
Welcoming Faisal Vawda, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that constitutional amendments have their own principles and requirements. He assured that after full consultation, the party would share its clear opinion on the matter.
During the discussion, Faisal Vawda stated that there was no plan to roll back or change the 18th Amendment. He also remarked, “If anyone wants to play the politics of Mola Jatt, then options like Governor’s Rule and bans are also on the table.”
He went on to say that “Bilawal is the protector of democracy, and Asif Zardari is a master of political strategy.”
