Punjab releases 2025 winter vacation schedule for schools
LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially announced the schedule for winter holidays 2025 for all educational institutions across the province.
According to the education department, the winter break will start on December 23, 2025, and continue until January 10, 2026. All public and private schools will remain closed during this time and will reopen on January 13, 2026.
The new schedule will apply to all schools in Punjab to ensure a uniform holiday period for students and teachers alike.
Earlier, the government had revised school timings to protect students from the rising smog and air pollution in the province.
Dr. Imran Hameed Sheikh, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), said that starting November 3, 2025, schools will open no earlier than 8:45 a.m. This timing change will remain in effect until January 31, 2026.
Officials stated that the decision aims to reduce morning traffic congestion, which contributes significantly to air pollution. “By easing the early rush-hour pressure, we expect a noticeable drop in vehicular emissions,” the EPA said in a statement.
The government has also warned schools against violating the directive. Any institution found breaking the rules may face fines between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1 million, depending on the seriousness of the violation.
