Security Forces Eliminate 17 in Major Bannu Operations
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed stated that security forces have conducted various successful intelligence-based raids; as a result, 17 terrorists were sent to hell, which included three high-value commanders, while several others were wounded.
The coordinated operations were carried out by KP Police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and security forces in various areas, including Shiri Khel and Pakka Pahar Khel, following confirmed intelligence reports about the presence of militants belonging to the outlawed Fitna-ul-Khawarij group.
During the major operation in these areas, security forces killed 10 militants, injured five, and arrested one facilitator. The IGP confirmed that seven bodies were recovered, while three bodies could not be retrieved due to the rugged mountainous terrain.
Among the slain terrorists were dangerous commanders, which included Niaz Ali, alias Akasha, and Abdullah, alias Shipankoi.
These militants were wanted for their involvement in numerous attacks on police and security forces.
In another joint action by the police and CTD in Nasar Khel, a wanted terrorist was killed during an exchange of fire.
A police team also engaged militants from the same group in Domail, where a fierce exchange of gunfire took place.
In another extended operation lasting eight hours, the Bannu Police, CTD, and security forces neutralized six more militants and injured dozens, according to IGP Zulfiqar Hameed.
The IGP urged that the eliminated terrorists were among the most wanted and had been involved in multiple attacks targeting law-enforcement personnel.
