Bannu Police Successfully Defuse 10kg Bomb Targeting Key Bridge
In a swift and commendable operation, Bannu police foiled a terrorist plot aimed at destroying a bridge in the outskirts of Basia Khel.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) successfully defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) containing eight to 10 kg of explosives, preventing significant damage and potential loss of lives. “The elimination of elements who wanted to harm the public is a necessity,” said Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Sajjad Khan.
Authorities revealed that the miscreants had connected the locally-made IED to the central pillar of the bridge. Local residents praised the timely action, stating that those who target public infrastructure deserve no mercy.
The incident comes in the wake of a recent terrorist attack on the Howaid Peace Committee office in Bannu, which claimed seven lives and injured one individual. The police have deployed additional security in the area and launched investigations into both incidents.
The successful defusal underscores the vigilance of the Bannu police in ensuring public safety and safeguarding critical infrastructure.
