Adiala Jail Sit-In Ends as KP CM Afridi Heads to IHC for Imran Khan Meeting Request

28 November, 2025 10:49

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi ended his sit-in outside Adiala Jail’s Factory checkpost in Rawalpindi. The protest had continued for several days. Afridi was demanding a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan.

After calling off the sit-in, he reached the Islamabad High Court (IHC). He said he wanted to inform the chief justice that the court order allowing his meeting was not being followed.

Afridi Says Court Order Still Ignored

Speaking to the media outside the IHC, Afridi said he had completed all legal requirements. But the jail administration was still blocking his meeting with Imran Khan.
He said he would file a written request in court and ask why the order was not implemented. Afridi added that the entire country had seen how a sitting chief minister was being stopped from meeting his party founder.

Talks Held With Adiala Jail Administration

Before his visit to the IHC, long discussions took place between the KP team and the Adiala Jail officials.
The meeting happened in a private building near the Factory checkpost. According to sources, the participants included the assistant superintendent of prisons, Afridi’s CSO, police officials, and provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi.

During the talks, PTI leaders demanded that Afridi be allowed to meet Imran Khan. The KP delegation also asked for several assurances.

KP Team’s Main Demands

Sources said the KP team wanted three key things:

  • A written explanation on why the meeting was denied

  • Clear information and guarantees about Imran Khan’s health

  • Permission for a meeting between the chief minister and a senior PTI leader with the party founder

Afridi’s team insisted that all rules had been followed. They said the refusal looked unfair and unexplained.

‘The World Saw What Happened’

Afridi said the entire situation was shocking. He said it was worrying that even after fulfilling all requirements, he was still being stopped.
He added that his team had also asked authorities to give a written reason for denying access to the PTI founder.

Tension Rises as Talks Continue All Night

The talks between the KP delegation and the jail administration went on through the night.
The situation attracted national attention. Many questioned why the court orders were not followed. The political pressure increased hour by hour.

On Thursday, when Afridi first arrived near Adiala Jail, police did not allow him to move forward. He then sat at the Factory checkpost and started a sit-in. MNA Shahid Khattak, MPA Meena Khan Afridi, and other PTI leaders were also present.

Security was very strict along Adiala Road. Extra police were deployed at Dahgal and Gorakhpur checkpoints.
Afridi said he was also worried because of reports about Imran Khan’s health. He added that people across the country had the same concern.
He warned that if the situation continued, it might lead to public unrest. “If we are not given the meeting, we will decide our next steps,” he said.
