FO says Taliban’s non-cooperation may have delayed Turkish visit

05 December, 2025 14:02

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, said on Friday that the delay in the visit of a high-level Turkish delegation to Islamabad may be due to a lack of cooperation from the Taliban regime.

The Turkish delegation was supposed to arrive in Pakistan last month. The visit was planned to discuss the growing tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government. However, the visit did not take place as expected.

The plan for this visit was first made public earlier this month by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He shared this information during his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Baku last month.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Irfan Neziroglu, had earlier said that the visiting delegation would include the Turkish intelligence chief and several important ministers. He also played a key role in arranging the earlier trilateral talks on Afghanistan held in Istanbul.
