As Junk or Jackpot? gets ready to premiere on HGTV, renewed attention has turned to Bobby Berk, whose television career continues to grow beyond his role on Queer Eye.
The new HGTV series, debuting Friday, December 26, features Berk helping people “discover the hidden monetary value of their massive and unusual collections,” according to the network. As excitement builds around the show, viewers have also shown fresh interest in Berk’s personal life—particularly his long marriage to husband Dewey Do.
While Berk has frequently shared aspects of his life in the public eye, Do has largely remained private despite the couple’s relationship spanning more than two decades. With Junk or Jackpot? introducing Berk in a new hosting role, curiosity about Do’s background, career, and their life together has resurfaced.
Berk and Do married in 2012, years before Berk became a household name. Berk has previously described the milestone as deeply meaningful, though it briefly came with unexpected complications. Their relationship began well before Berk’s television fame and has evolved alongside significant professional changes for both men.

Dewey Do’s Career and Life Outside Television
Unlike Berk’s work in design and television, Dewey Do has built his career in medicine. He is a maxillofacial surgeon, practicing in what the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery defines as “a specialized medical field that diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and defects in the head, neck, face and jaws, including the hard and soft tissues of this region.”
Professionals in this specialty commonly perform procedures such as dental implant surgery, facial trauma repair, reconstructive surgery, and corrective jaw surgery—work far removed from reality TV.
The couple first met in 2004, during a time when online dating was far less socially accepted. Berk has since spoken candidly about how they initially explained their meeting. Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Berk said,
“Back in the day, we would say we met at Starbucks because we met online. Twenty years ago it was, like, weird to meet people online. We’d say we met at Starbucks or a bar.”
He added jokingly,
“I don’t think it was quite dial-up, but almost.”
Their long relationship eventually led to marriage in 2012, a decision Berk later described in a 2018 Facebook post as happening “as soon as it was legal.” The wedding itself was intentionally intimate, with Berk noting they were married by a “very close friend of [theirs] who was ordained.”
However, the celebration nearly turned complicated. Berk later told PEOPLE that the officiant “never sent in the correct paperwork.” Months later, the issue came to light, prompting an urgent solution. Berk explained,
“We had to frantically run to the courthouse in downtown New York City to get married before the end of the year to make sure our taxes were filed properly.”
Family Choices and Life Between Continents
Although the couple once envisioned having children, those plans changed over time. Berk and Do do not have children and have since chosen to remain child-free. Berk explained the decision by saying,
“We have decided it’s not for us. I mean, in this day and age — and this is not to knock anybody’s decision to have or not have kids — but for me, I would just have a hard time bringing any child into the world right now.”
He has also cited time constraints, saying he does not “have enough time” to dedicate to parenting. This marks a shift from comments Berk made in 2019, when he described children as part of their “five-year plan,” contingent on his schedule slowing down.
Instead, the couple shares their life with their dog, Bimini, a mini Labradoodle who often appears on Berk’s social media.
In recent years, Berk and Do have expanded their lifestyle internationally. Since 2023, they have split their time between Los Angeles and Portugal, after previously relocating from New York to Los Angeles in 2018. Berk discussed the move on The Jennifer Hudson Show, saying,
“We went to Portugal, and we fell in love with Portugal, and we decided to live in Portugal part-time.”
Their home is located in the Algarve region, which Berk described as “down on the southern coast.” He added,
“We live in this little village. The village just celebrates its 250th year, so it’s a young village for Europe.”
Berk has spoken warmly about life there, noting,
“It’s just nice. It’s so quaint. The food, the people. The thing I love about Portugal is everything’s so natural. The food is so natural. We ate sweets and bread every single day and didn’t gain a pound.”
As Junk or Jackpot? introduces audiences to a new chapter of Berk’s professional journey, interest in the steady, largely private life he shares with Dewey Do continues to grow alongside it.
