Murree Expressway closed due to heavy snowfall
ISLAMABAD: The district administration has temporarily closed the Murree Expressway for non-essential traffic due to heavy snowfall. The closure is from Phulgara Toll Plaza to Murree to ensure public safety.
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) shared the update on social media. They said that local residents can still use the N-75 highway, which remains open for travel.
Authorities have advised tourists and visitors to avoid going to Murree unless it is very necessary. Meanwhile, teams from the NHMP and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are working day and night to clear the snow and reopen the road.
Special machines are being used to remove snow and make the expressway safe again. Officials say safety is their top priority during the operation.
Motorists are urged to travel carefully and limit unnecessary trips until conditions improve. Authorities have assured the public that all efforts are being made to restore traffic as soon as possible.
Weather reports suggest that rain and snowfall may continue in Murree and nearby Galiyat areas until early January. As a safety step, travelers are advised to carry tire chains, keep fuel tanks full, and follow instructions from traffic officials.
