Who is Emanuele Galeppini? First Victim of Swiss Bar Fire Identified

The first victim of the deadly New Year’s Eve fire at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, Valais, Switzerland has been identified as Emanuele Galeppini, a 17-year-old Italian golfer.

The blaze erupted during New Year celebrations, claiming the lives of 47 people and injuring over 100 others. Survivors described a “flashover” inferno that spread in seconds, leaving many trapped inside.

Tributes from Italian Golf Federation

The Italian Golf Federation mourned Galeppini’s death, calling him a “young athlete who embodied passion and authentic values.”

“In this time of great sorrow, our thoughts go out to his family and all those who loved him,” the Federation said in a statement.

Galeppini had shown promise as a teen golfer, representing the future of Italian youth sports.

Horror at Le Constellation

Around 200 people were inside the bar when the fire started. Witnesses reported “screaming and running” as flames engulfed the venue. Many victims were unable to escape.
