Nikki Glaser Reveals Why She Chose Not to Have Kids at 41

12 January, 2026 11:39

Stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser is currently at the peak of her career, having been announced as the host of the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, set for January 11, 2026. This marks her second consecutive year hosting the prestigious international event, following her historic 2025 achievement as the first woman to host the ceremony solo. Nikki’s fearless humour and sharp wit earned her the repeat gig, while her personal choices continue to make headlines, particularly her decision not to have biological children.

Why did Nikki Glaser choose not to have children?

Over the past two years, Nikki has openly shared her reasoning during interviews and comedy specials. The 41-year-old stated that she simply does not feel a natural desire for motherhood. While many women around her expressed a longing to have children, Nikki never experienced the same pull and refused to force herself into something she did not genuinely want.

Additionally, Nikki values her personal freedom and her career. She frequently tours and attends global events, with dates scheduled well into 2027. The comedian explained that raising a child would require sacrifices she is not ready to make. During one stand-up act, she joked about spending nearly USD 100,000 attending 22 Taylor Swift concerts, which she found “more affordable than raising a child,” saying:

“I have free money because I don’t have kids.”

Another reason Nikki cites is what she calls the “Doug phase.” She humorously notes that while babies are adorable, they eventually grow into “some dude named Doug,” making the short-lived cute stage insufficient motivation for a lifetime of parenting. Nikki, who has never married, also described the idea of a forever commitment as “admitting defeat.”

Nikki Glaser is open to adoption

Nikki has been in a long-term, on-and-off relationship with TV producer Chris Convy for over a decade. Despite her decision not to have biological children, she is open to adoption in the future if she ever wants to become a parent. Nikki explained:

“I have no interest in whether a kid looks like me or shares my DNA. If I ever want to be a parent, adoption makes way more sense to me.”
