Who Is Preity Mukhundhan? Sarvam Maya Actress Gained Fame With ‘Aasa Kooda’

Preity Mukhundhan, the rising actress who starred alongside Nivin Pauly in the blockbuster Sarvam Maya, has been making waves following the film’s release on December 25, 2025. The horror-comedy crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark globally and received strong acclaim for its mass appeal, with Preity gaining attention for her role as ‘Saadhya’.

Preity Mukhundhan is not just a talented performer but also a highly educated individual, having completed a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NIT Trichy. Born in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, to doctor parents, she showed an early interest in performing arts. While pursuing her degree, she began modelling in 2018 and successfully balanced her academic and professional commitments.

Preity first gained public attention as a dancer. She appeared in Teejay Arunasalam’s 2022 music video Muttu Mu2, which went viral with over 4.2 million views on YouTube. She then gained further recognition with Sai Abhyankkar’s Aasa Kuda, which she described as a turning point: “Before the song, people hardly knew me. But the song, Aasa Kuda became a sensation and gave me a great boost in terms of visibility.” She also performed in Badshah’s Hindi music video Morni.

Transitioning into acting, Preity debuted in the Telugu horror-comedy Om Bheem Bush, followed by Tamil projects including Star and the devotional epic Kannappa, sharing the screen with stars like Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar. Her Malayalam debut came with Maine Pyar Kiya (2025). Speaking about her role in Sarvam Maya, she said, “For Kannappa I had to learn horse riding, sword fighting etc. Before getting into films, I had several acting workshops and dance practice sessions. But working on a film of such a massive scale was very liberating. The character challenged me as an actor and pushed my creative limits.”

Despite her rapid rise in the industry, Preity shared that her journey into acting was unexpected. “Modelling experience further fostered me, and the film industry made my experience more interesting. I just started to understand life better and navigate through various challenges.”

With her education, dancing skills, and acting versatility, Preity Mukhundhan is emerging as one of South Indian cinema’s promising talents, poised for a successful career across multiple industries.
