Sara Bennett Announces Her Own Death, Less Than 3 Years After ALS Diagnosis
In a heartbreaking turn of events at the start of 2026, 39-year-old influencer and content creator Sara Bennett passed away after announcing her own death. In January 2026, Sara shared a pre-written message on her Instagram account, @theanandapivot, which included her official statement of passing. Sara, who was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in March 2023, died nearly three years after her diagnosis, leaving fans mourning the loss of a vibrant and inspiring life.
Sara opened up about her final days, reflecting on her journey with ALS and her approach to life in her last months. She shared that she was “neither tired nor in pain” and continued to enjoy conversations and laughter while living her final days in a wheelchair. The mother of two expressed gratitude for the time she had and the opportunity to tick off her bucket list. She wrote:
“I am not in pain, or tired. I can laugh, talk, and I can move. Reflecting in my last few months of my life, I am glad I didn’t go suddenly even WITH the suffering. I finished my list. Even if you don’t believe in anything, I am feeding the earth, and my tree. I loved this life, and am grateful for the time.”
Sara’s ALS journey began in March 2022 with early symptoms like loss of grip strength and difficulty lifting her foot. Following a misdiagnosis that led to unnecessary spinal surgery, she was officially diagnosed in March 2023. The disease progressed rapidly, forcing her to step away from her career as a high school social studies teacher. Despite the challenges, she continued to inspire others through her platform, The Ananda Pivot, advocating for ALS awareness, experimental treatments, and adaptive tools for daily living.
Sara actively involved her family in her advocacy work, supporting organisations such as ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) and Live Like Lou, and focused on leaving a legacy for her two sons, Lincoln (7) and William (9). Her family has also launched a college fund to secure her children’s future. Friends, family, and fans have lauded her bravery and compassion, celebrating her life and contributions to ALS awareness.
