Constitution Is a Promise; Breach Damages Relations: Achakzai

Mehmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ain-e-Pakistan and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, has stated that the Constitution is a sacred promise; if it is broken, national relations will inevitably deteriorate. He proposed the formation of a parliamentary committee on foreign policy and called for a Round Table Conference to address the evolving situation in the region.
Later, while speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Achakzai emphasized the need for a movement to “remove counterfeit coins” from the political landscape. He remarked that while the current system is sound, there is a lack of genuine will to implement it. “There must be a sincere intention,” he said, adding that the country can only function effectively if all nations within Pakistan contribute to its progress.
Achakzai suggested that a three-day round table conference would allow all stakeholders to listen to one another and find a collective way forward. Regarding his political rivals, he maintained a respectful stance, stating that he does not believe in personal abuse. He noted that he owes nothing to Nawaz Sharif or Asif Zardari except for “a few cups of tea,” adding warmly that should they visit, he would be happy to serve them tea again.
