After the deadly fire at Gul Plaza Karachi on January 17, authorities have moved from rescue to recovery operations. So far, 14 people have been confirmed dead, while around 60 people are still missing, according to recovery teams.

Missing Persons and Casualty Updates

Recovery teams say the search operation is very difficult due to heavy damage inside the building. The missing persons list includes nearly 60 individuals. Police are using mobile tower data to trace last-known locations inside Gul Plaza.

The death toll remains 14. Authorities have confirmed the identities of Furqan Shaukat Ali (firefighter), Kashif Younis, Faraz Abrar, and Mohammad Aamir. Many others are still receiving treatment for smoke inhalation at the Burns Centre.

Building Safety and DNA Identification

Officials say the building structure is extremely weak and unsafe. The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has warned that only 10 percent of the interior has been searched so far.
