Who Is Dalip Chadha? Indian-Origin Man Charged With Murder of Vanessa Puntney-Chadha in London

London, January 28, 2026 — A 57-year-old man of Indian origin has appeared in a UK court after being charged with the murder of a woman at a home in east London, police said.

The accused, identified as Dalip Chadha, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday at a property on Applegarth Drive in Ilford, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Officers were called to the address at around 4:00 am on January 27. On arrival, they found a woman dead inside the house. Emergency services confirmed her death at the scene.

Police said the woman has not yet been formally identified. However, she is believed to be 58-year-old Vanessa Puntney-Chadha, the wife of the accused. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Dalip Chadha, who lives at the same address, was arrested at the scene. He was later charged with murder.
