Iran Labels European Military Forces as Terrorist Organizations After EU Move

Iran has declared the armed forces of several European countries as terrorist organizations, escalating tensions with the European Union.

The move comes in response to the European Union’s recent decision against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Strong Warning From Iran’s National Security Council

Iranian National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani issued a strong statement following the EU action.

He said the European Union is fully aware of Iran’s internal laws. According to him, all European countries that supported the EU resolution against the IRGC will now see their military forces labeled as terrorist groups by Iran.

Iran Holds Europe Responsible for Consequences

Ali Larijani warned that the full responsibility for the consequences of this decision will rest with the European countries involved.

He added that Iran is treating the matter with serious concern and will respond based on its national laws and security interests.

Legal Basis Cited by Iranian Authorities

Iranian media reported that a law related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was passed by the Iranian parliament in April 2019.

Under this law, any entity that places the IRGC on a blacklist or declares it a terrorist organization can itself be designated as a terrorist entity by Iran.

EU Decision Triggered the Response

Just one day earlier, the European Union officially announced its decision to label the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

Iran’s armed forces reacted strongly to the announcement. They described the EU move as illogical, irresponsible, and driven by bad intentions.

Role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a key part of Iran’s military structure.

It was formed after the 1979 Iranian Revolution and operates alongside Iran’s regular army.

The IRGC reports directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and plays a central role in Iran’s defense and regional strategy.
