US Weapons Left in Afghanistan Used for Terrorism in Pakistan: CNN

04 February, 2026 15:03

American broadcaster CNN has reported that U.S. weapons left in Afghanistan are being utilized for terrorism in Pakistan. According to the report, these munitions have become a major obstacle in counter-terrorism operations, with TTP and BLA militants frequently using American-made rifles, machine guns, and sniper rifles.

The report emphasizes that the availability of these weapons has significantly increased both the frequency and intensity of terrorist attacks. According to SIGAR (Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction) Chief John Sopko, approximately 300,000 American weapons were left in Afghanistan following the U.S. withdrawal. These modern arms have since been identified in terrorist attacks across South Waziristan and Balochistan.

The Pakistani government has repeatedly provided clear evidence to the Afghan interim government and the international community, asserting that Afghan soil is being used as a springboard for attacks against Pakistan and that militants are equipped with high-tech U.S. weaponry.
