Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Nancy Kidnapped, Alleged Ransom Note Demands Bitcoin Millions

Savannah Guthrie, renowned journalist and Today Show co-host, is facing an emotional ordeal as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing. Nancy was last seen at her home on January 31, 2026, and the family filed a missing person report the following morning. Authorities have indicated that Nancy, described as a “vulnerable adult,” may have been taken from her bed while asleep.

In the midst of the ongoing investigation, the source revealed that a ransom note demanding one million dollars in Bitcoin for Nancy’s safe return was received and forwarded to law enforcement. Savannah, along with her siblings Annie and Camron, addressed the alleged ransom in a tearful social media plea, captioned “bring her back.” She emphasized the family’s top priority: confirming that Nancy is alive and safe, noting the ease with which photos and voice recordings can be manipulated. Savannah stated:

“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, is reported to have fragile health and chronic pain. Savannah expressed her concern for her mother’s well-being, highlighting the urgent need for her medications. She said:

“Mommy is our heart and our home. She is 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer.”

Savannah also shared an emotional message thanking supporters and describing Nancy as a devoted, witty, and loving grandmother. The family continues to search for Nancy while authorities, including Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, are treating the case as an abduction. Annie Guthrie was the last to see Nancy following a family dinner on January 31, 2026.
