Forensic Evidence Collected After Deadly Tarlai Mosque Suicide Blast

Evidence has been collected following the suicide attack on a mosque and Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Islamabad.

According to police sources, law enforcement agencies have sought assistance from the National Forensic Agency and NADRA to process the evidence. Investigators report that the suicide bomber opened fire before the blast, discharging two shots on his way in and another six inside the hall; the shells have since been recovered from the scene.

After the shooting, the attacker entered the main hall and detonated his vest. Police estimate that up to 4 kilograms of explosives, packed with a large volume of ball bearings, were used in the attack.

The tragedy occurred yesterday in the Tarlai area of Islamabad, where a suicide blast at the Khadijatul Kubra Mosque and Imambargah martyred 32 people and injured more than 150 others.
