Epstein Files Reveal Chilling Email Sent One Week After 9/11: “Where Is the Real Pilot?”

The latest release of the Epstein files has revealed a previously undisclosed exchange involving Ghislaine Maxwell, who was invited to participate in a clandestine group described as a “Shadow Commission on 9/11.” The invitation reportedly came from Edward Jay Epstein, a well-known investigative journalist and author of the 1966 book Inquest, which critically examined the findings of the Warren Commission into the assassination of John F Kennedy.

According to the documents, the communication took place in January 2003, nearly 18 months after the September 11 attacks and the collapse of the Twin Towers. While the message references a secretive body focused on 9/11, the files provide no further clarity on the group’s mandate, legitimacy, or membership beyond the invitation itself. In the email, Epstein wrote: “Any interest in being on the Shadow Commission on 9/11. The membership list is secret”. Maxwell reportedly declined the offer.

The tranche also includes unrelated but controversial correspondence involving Maxwell. In one email exchange, she outlined a fictional scenario depicting a future without any “Arabs.” The narrative imagines a conversation between a father and child at the former site of the World Trade Center, where the father reflects on the Twin Towers and claims they were destroyed by the “Arabs.” The child then asks what “Arabs” were. This email was reportedly sent to Thomas Pritzker, the executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels.

Another document highlights a brief and ambiguous exchange between Maxwell and Philip Levine, dated roughly a week after the September 11 attacks, which included the line: “Where is the real pilot?” The context and intent behind this message remain unclear.

Observers note that the manner in which the files were released by the Department of Justice—as a vast, unindexed collection of PDFs—has added to the confusion. With little chronological order or explanatory framework, journalists, researchers, and online commentators have been left to independently analyze and connect fragments of information, turning the document dump into one of the most closely scrutinized and debated media releases in recent years.
