General Hospital Airs Emotional Tribute to Anthony Geary
General Hospital on ABC has aired a special tribute to Anthony Geary, the legendary actor who portrayed Luke Spencer.
Luke became one of the most cherished characters in soap opera history thanks to Geary, who passed away on December 14 at the age of 78. Although the character was written off the show in 2022, Luke’s presence continues to impact both the cast and fans alike.
Key cast members—including Genie Francis (Laura Collins), Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Laura Wright (Carly Spencer), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber), and Alexa Havins (Lulu Spencer)—were featured in the memorial episode that aired on February 20.
A teaser shared by the show highlights candlelight vigils and flashbacks to Geary’s most memorable moments, featuring a tearful Francis saying, “Thank you for the love of a lifetime.” The episode examines Luke’s legacy through scenes where Tracy and others share anecdotes after Lulu discovers an old photograph of her father.
In a YouTube teaser, Benard’s Sonny muses, “He was more than my friend; he was my brother,” while Francis’s Laura responds, “Luke, you never left me.”
ABC describes the tribute as “a very special (and emotional) episode honoring his legacy,” offering fans an opportunity to commemorate a character and an actor who defined the history of the genre.
