Pezeshkian: Strait of Hormuz Insecurity Caused by US-Israeli Aggression

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that the growing insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of US-Israeli military actions against Iran. He stressed that Tehran is taking necessary steps to ensure safe passage for non-hostile vessels through the strategic waterway.

During a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, both leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and the wider impact of the ongoing conflict on global security.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains committed to maintaining stability in the region while strongly opposing foreign intervention. He stated that the current tensions in the Strait of Hormuz are a consequence of aggression by the United States and Israel.

The Iranian president clarified that Iran did not initiate the conflict. He said that attacks were carried out without legal justification, even as nuclear negotiations were ongoing. He also referred to the targeting of senior leadership, military officials, and civilians, as well as strikes on public infrastructure.

He added that defending Iran’s territory is a natural and legitimate right, highlighting Tehran’s stance on self-defense.

Pezeshkian also praised the strong ties between Iran and Pakistan and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and resisting foreign interference.

He urged regional countries, especially Islamic nations, not to allow their land or resources to be used for attacks against Iran. He warned that such actions could further escalate the conflict and increase instability across the region.

On maritime security, Pezeshkian said Iran has taken steps to maintain navigation safety despite rising tensions. He noted that safe passage would be ensured for vessels that are not linked to hostile countries or involved in aggression.
