UAE Eid Al Adha 2026: Expected dates and public holidays
The United Arab Emirates is preparing for one of its biggest public holidays of 2026, with residents set to enjoy a long break for Eid Al Adha.
Eid Al Adha, also called the “Festival of Sacrifice”, honors Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The festival is celebrated with prayers, charity, and family gatherings.
Astronomical predictions show that the holiday will start on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, with Arafat Day, followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations from Wednesday, 27 May to Friday, 29 May. Combined with the weekend, the break could last up to six days, encouraging early travel plans and increased bookings.
While the official dates depend on moon sighting, the extended holiday is expected to be a major highlight of the UAE’s 2026 calendar.
Other key public holidays in the UAE for 2026 include:
- Islamic New Year: Wednesday, 17 June
- UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad): Wednesday–Thursday, 2–3 December
Note: All dates are subject to moon sighting.
