Taylor Frankie Paul Ex-Husband Tate Paul Questions Police About Children in New Audio
Taylor Frankie Paul has once again made headlines following resurfaced domestic violence allegations from 2023. Newly released bodycam footage and audio recordings shed light on the controversial night involving her ex, Dakota Mortensen, which ultimately led to the cancellation of her scheduled ABC series, The Bachelorette Season 22.
The incident escalated when Taylor reportedly kicked Mortensen and threw barstools while her daughter, Indy, was present. TMZ has obtained audio recordings of Taylor’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, speaking with police, revealing his concern for their children.
Tate Paul Questions Police About His Children
The recordings capture Tate asking officers whether all children in Taylor’s Utah home during the altercation were properly accounted for. While his daughter, Indy, was downstairs at the time, he also expressed concern for his son, Ocean, stating:
“I haven’t been able to look at the police report yet, and I submitted a request for that… but to me, looking at the charges, it looks like they’re missing the account for my son, [who] is in the home as well. Do they typically charge two accounts if there’s another child in the home?”
Claims of Ex-Mother-in-Law Coaching
Tate also raised concerns that Taylor’s mother, Liann May, may have been “coaching” Indy about the incident. After police arrived, Taylor—described as “intoxicated”—was unstable, and her parents were called to take the children. Tate and Taylor share two children, Indy May and Ocean, who are now mainly in Tate’s custody.
He urged authorities to contact him directly instead of Liann, stating:
“I know that her family was involved, like they’ve picked up the kids and stuff, and I know that they care about her and stuff, and so I can imagine that they’re gonna, you know, gatekeep a little bit with all this. I just wanna make sure that all of it was recorded.”
Background of the 2023 Altercation
The audio corresponds to the 2023 incident when Taylor allegedly threw a barstool, striking Mortensen while a child was present. Bodycam footage shows a police officer noting that a child “just puked,” while Mortensen appeared visibly worried. Taylor was charged with aggravated assault, though Mortensen reportedly tried to take the blame, emphasizing that she needed help.
The controversy impacted Taylor’s career, including the cancellation of her planned appearance on The Bachelorette. Sources close to her maintain that some footage and accounts lack context.
