Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari End Feud: Tracing the History and Reconciliation

28 March, 2026 12:30

Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari first captured public attention with their on-screen tension during Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which aired in 2004. The reality series quickly became a cultural phenomenon, largely due to the feud between Conrad and Cavallari, which stemmed from a love triangle involving actor Stephen Colletti. The show concluded in 2006 with cast changes in later seasons.

The two reality stars recently made headlines again during the Laguna Beach reunion on March 26, 2026. Both Lauren and Kristin have since reconciled, emphasizing that their past issues no longer matter as adults. In an interview with PEOPLE, Lauren noted that the resolution reflects their growth:

“…this is the point where no one is concerned about the small things that happened in the past.”

Kristin also expressed satisfaction that the past disputes no longer affect their relationship, highlighting the positive dynamic they now share.

Origins of the Feud
The initial conflict began during the show’s first season, involving Lauren, Kristin, and Stephen Colletti. Kristin was dating Stephen at the time, but tensions rose during a spring break episode, which aired shortly after the premiere. The episode featured a fight between Kristin and Stephen, and inappropriate words were reportedly exchanged between Lauren, Stephen, and Kristin, generating media attention.

Years of Limited Contact
For years, Lauren and Kristin reportedly did not speak. In a 2010 interview with Us Weekly, Kristin said she had seen Lauren at a The Hills wrap party but did not have her contact information. Lauren confirmed in 2012 that they were not speaking despite letting go of previous issues.

The Truth Behind the Reality TV Narrative
In 2012, Kristin opened up on Watch What Happens Live, explaining that while many conflicts on Laguna Beach appeared dramatic, much of the tension was exaggerated by producers. She praised Lauren, saying:

“She is a very pretty girl – I know she said the same thing. She’s very successful. And we actually have had a lot of really fun nights together, so she can be a lot of fun.”

Kristin also clarified during the 2020 Laguna Beach reunion that a significant portion of the feud was fabricated and that they were unaware of the behind-the-scenes reality TV manipulations.

By 2022, on the Back to the Beach podcast, Kristin stated that she and Lauren never truly had a feud and criticized producers for exaggerating tensions. Their reconciliation was further highlighted during the 2026 reunion, where Stephen Colletti returned and supported Kristin after a wardrobe malfunction, with Lauren stepping in to help cover her. The reunion showcased the strong, friendly bond they now share.
