Iran will respond decisively to any ceasefire violation: Masoud Pezeshkian

09 April, 2026 08:54

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning regarding any breaches of the recently agreed ceasefire with the United States, stating that the Islamic Republic will respond “decisively” to any aggression.

In a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian condemned attacks on Lavan and Siri islands, which occurred shortly after a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire was announced. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will respond decisively to any aggression,” he reiterated.

The ceasefire, brokered after 41 days of intense conflict between Iran and the US-Israeli coalition, aims to stabilize the region. Tehran provided a 10-point proposal forming the framework for a permanent end to hostilities, including establishing a ceasefire in Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli strikes.

Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s “constructive” efforts to facilitate peace and highlighted Iran’s “responsible and authoritative” approach in honoring the ceasefire despite repeated US violations. He urged international actors to pressure aggressors to prevent repeating strategic mistakes and emphasized that security in the Hormuz Strait depends on ending US-Israeli attacks.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called on all parties, including Israel, to adhere to the ceasefire and expressed Islamabad’s commitment to engaging regional nations to promote peace and stability in the Persian Gulf and West Asia.
