Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Iran’s Top Leadership During Key Tehran Visit

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held important meetings with Iran’s top civil and military leadership during his official visit to Tehran, according to reports released late Thursday.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, where both sides discussed regional security, ongoing tensions, and efforts to maintain peace. The meeting highlighted the growing diplomatic coordination between Pakistan and Iran at a critical time.
Field Marshal Munir also visited Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, where he was warmly received by Major General Ali Abdollahi. The visit to the military command center reflected strong defense-level engagement between the two countries.
In addition, the army chief held separate meetings with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. These leaders were part of Iran’s delegation that recently participated in direct talks with the United States in Islamabad.
Officials familiar with the development said that the visit played a positive role in reducing differences between Iran and the United States. It has also increased hopes for extending the current ceasefire and restarting diplomatic negotiations.
The discussions focused on promoting stability in the region and finding peaceful solutions through dialogue. Both sides acknowledged the importance of continued engagement to avoid further escalation.
The visit is being seen as a significant step in Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to support regional peace and facilitate communication between major stakeholders.
