17 April, 2026 19:06

Donald Trump issued a statement on Truth Social, saying that Iran has announced the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump said he thanked Iran for opening the Strait of Hormuz.

The US president announced in another post that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for business and full traffic; however, the naval blockade on Iran will remain in full force and effect and will continue until we have a 100 percent agreement with Iran.

Trump said that this process should be completed very quickly because most of the points have already been settled. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

It should be noted that Iran has announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz after the ceasefire in Lebanon.

Earlier, Iran welcomed the recent ceasefire in Lebanon, describing it as a major diplomatic achievement and part of a broader regional understanding reached with the United States.

In an official statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said the ceasefire reflects Tehran’s consistent diplomatic efforts to push for peace across the region. He emphasized that Iran had long called for a simultaneous halt to hostilities, including in Lebanon, during talks with multiple international and regional parties.

According to the statement, recent negotiations held in Islamabad played a key role in shaping the outcome. Iran acknowledged the mediation efforts of Pakistan, praising its role in helping secure the 10-day ceasefire agreement.

Baghaei also paid tribute to the resilience of the Lebanese people and resistance groups, saying their perseverance contributed to the outcome. He expressed solidarity with those affected by the conflict and extended condolences to families who lost loved ones.
