Pezeshkian Hails Iran-US Memorandum as “Historic Document”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States as a “historic document,” saying it reflects Iran’s position and role on the international stage.

In a message posted on social media Thursday, Pezeshkian shared images of the signed agreement and welcomed the accord as a significant diplomatic achievement.

Pezeshkian said the agreement demonstrates Iran’s commitment to pursuing peace while safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, and strategic interests.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been committed and steadfast to global peace while preserving its dignity and independence, as well as to progress and regional cooperation,” he said.

The president’s remarks came shortly after the memorandum officially entered into force following its signing by the leaders of both countries. The agreement is intended to establish a framework for ending hostilities and advancing negotiations on a range of political, security, and economic issues.
