Iran Warns Attacks on Lebanon Are a ‘Red Line’

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, has warned that any aggression targeting Lebanon, including its southern regions and the capital Beirut, constitutes a “red line” for Tehran. He said any future violations by Israel could prompt an Iranian response, underscoring Iran’s continued support for Lebanon’s security and stability.
Bahreini referred to a memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States earlier this month. According to his remarks, the understanding aims to halt the cycle of escalation that emerged following the latest round of hostilities between the two countries and their regional allies, which lasted from February 28 to April 7.
The diplomat added that Tehran has made an end to aggression across all fronts, including Lebanon, a key condition of the memorandum. He noted that any future negotiations between Iran and Washington on a formal agreement would depend on the full implementation of the understanding’s provisions, particularly the cessation of military actions and regional hostilities.
