Iran Says 44 Universities and Research Centers Damaged in Recent Attacks

A senior official at Iran’s Ministry of Science has said that recent US-Israeli attacks caused extensive damage to scientific and higher education institutions across the country, affecting 44 universities and research centers. He said the losses have been estimated at more than 33 trillion tomans, or approximately $1.9 billion.

Afshin Safahan, head of the ministry’s Legal Affairs, Bills and Parliamentary Affairs Center, said the documentation process on damages to universities and research institutions has been completed. He added that a final report detailing the extent of the destruction has been submitted to the government for review.

Safahan stated that the assessment covered infrastructure, facilities, and research assets impacted during what he described as the recent war on Iran. He said the findings highlight the scale of damage suffered by the country’s academic and scientific sector.
