Field Marshal Asim Munir Chairs 276th Corps Commanders Conference, Reaffirms National Security Priority

The 276th Corps Commanders Conference was held under the Chairmanship of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, where senior military leadership reviewed Pakistan’s internal and external security environment. The forum emphasized that the sacrifices of martyrs form the foundation of the country’s unity, stability, and resilience.

According to the official statement, Field Marshal Asim Munir stressed that the protection of Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests remains paramount under all circumstances. He also directed commanders to expedite implementation of the military’s multi-domain transformation plan to enhance operational readiness and modern capabilities.

The conference further addressed regional security challenges, noting concerns over the alleged use of Afghan territory by militant groups linked to external proxies. It stated that Afghanistan’s authorities bear responsibility for preventing cross-border attacks, while reaffirming that Pakistan retains the right to defend its citizens and will continue counterterrorism operations under ongoing security frameworks.

According to ISPR, the 276th Corps Commanders Conference, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, took notice of recent statements by India regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. The forum was briefed that the National Security Committee’s directive of 24 April 2025 provides comprehensive guidance on the matter, while participants reviewed Pakistan’s broader security and strategic environment.

The conference reiterated that Kashmir remains an unresolved issue and stressed the importance of implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions in line with the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. Attendees also noted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional stability and reducing tensions, while emphasizing the need for improved governance in terrorism-affected areas. The forum further highlighted concerns over hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns, stating that any attempts to destabilize the country with external support would be firmly countered.
