Iranian Lawmaker Condemns US Strikes on Southern Iran, Warns of Response

Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, has strongly condemned recent US strikes on southern Iran, describing them as evidence of what he called the American military’s “desperation” in confronting Iran. In a statement posted on social media, Azizi cited attacks on a school in Minab, an area near a children’s cancer hospital in Ahvaz, a sports hall in Lamerd, and repeated strikes on residential and civilian areas as examples of what he characterized as US “crimes.”
Azizi praised the people of southern Iran, calling the region “the bastion of Iran’s defence” and expressing solidarity with residents affected by the reported attacks. He said the country’s southern provinces have long played a vital role in safeguarding Iran and emphasized that they continue to hold a special place in the nation’s security and resilience.
The senior Iranian lawmaker also warned that Iran’s armed forces would respond to the attacks, saying they would not overlook the deaths of civilians. He cautioned what he described as the “enemies of the brave Iranian nation” that those responsible for the attacks would face consequences, underscoring Tehran’s continued condemnation of the reported strikes.
