Russia and Ukraine Exchange Overnight Strikes as Zelensky Accuses Moscow of Using North Korean Missiles

11 August, 2026 18:33

Russia and Ukraine continued exchanging strikes overnight, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accusing Moscow of using North Korean-made ballistic missiles in attacks on Ukrainian territory. Zelensky said strikes on Zaporizhzhia killed at least six people and injured at least 19, while alleging that the attacks involved missiles supplied by Russia’s ally, North Korea.

Ukraine also carried out strikes inside Russia, with warehouses belonging to Wildberries, one of Russia’s largest online retailers, reportedly hit in Voronezh. The attacks came a day after Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia’s republic of Tatarstan killed at least 13 people, including a child, in an area more than 1,100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Wildberries facilities have reportedly been targeted repeatedly in recent weeks.

In a video address, Zelensky said Russia was increasingly dependent on North Korean military support, warning that the deployment of North Korean missiles and personnel could provide them with battlefield experience and allow them to address operational shortcomings. He also described a Ukrainian strike on a Russian petrochemical facility in western Siberia as a significant military achievement and pledged further long-range attacks, saying they would demonstrate to Moscow that peace was necessary.
