US Military Weaker Than Expected, Claims Iranian Commander’s Adviser

12 August, 2026 12:51

TEHRAN: Mohammad Reza Naqdi, an adviser to the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has claimed that Iran has gained valuable military experience during its ongoing conflict with the United States.

In an interview with US broadcaster PBS, Naqdi said Iran had so far been successful in the war and was determined to continue what he described as its achievements.

He said the longer the conflict continued, the more military experience Iran would gain. According to Naqdi, Iran had not previously experienced a direct and real war with the United States, giving its forces an opportunity to learn how to deal with the US military.

Naqdi claimed that Iranian forces had learned a great deal during the past five months. He also said Iran had found the US military to be weaker than Tehran had expected before the conflict.

The Iranian official said the experience gained during the war would be important for Iran’s future military strategy. He claimed Iranian forces had tested their own capabilities while also studying US military tactics and capabilities.

Naqdi further said Iran considered itself the winner of the current conflict and would continue efforts to achieve further success.

The claims reflect the Iranian official’s position. No immediate response from the US military or American officials to these remarks was reported.

His comments come amid continued military tensions between Iran and the United States, which have added to security concerns across the Middle East.
