King Charles Hit by New Setback Ahead of Overseas Trip

The king of Britain forthcoming visit approaches Antigua and Barbuda take away the oath of loyalty to the monarch for new officials.

The new alteration means newly selected officials will no longer swear loyalty to King Charles III or future monarchs. They will instead obligate to the country, its Constitution and legal system.

The change came into effect in May, just weeks after Gaston Browne was re-elected as Prime Minister on April 30.

The progress comes as King Charles and Queen Camilla get ready for a week-long Caribbean tour later this year. As per Buckingham Palace reported, the royal couple will visit Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas and Guyana.

The royal couple’s main engagement will be the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will be held in Antigua and Barbuda from November 1 to 4.

King Charles remains the monarch of Antigua and Barbuda and serves as head of the Commonwealth, an association of more than 50 countries with historical links to the British Empire.

Before attending CHOGM, Charles will visit the Bahamas, where he is also monarch, before travelling to Guyana for a state visit.
