Peter Max, Iconic Pop Artist of the 1960s, Dies at 88

Iconic pop artist Peter Max, people know him by his colorful and psychedelic artwork, has passed away at the age of 88 by fighting a long illness. His death confirmed by his family spokesperson on Wednesday.

In 1960s and 1970s, he was one of the most noticeable artist because his bright colors, cosmic images and dreamy designs becoming closely linked to the era’s youth culture. His artwork often featured stars, planets, butterflies, peace symbols, clouds and other colorful images inspired by his love of astronomy.

Over the years, Max’s work also became popular in commercial art. He certified his projects for dozens of products, containing posters, clothing, eyeglasses, cruise ships and aircraft. His craft also seemed in major ethnic and sporting occasions.

His design offered depictions of well-known celeb such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger. He also shaped painting for five Super Bowls, the 1994 World Cup and the 2000 Kentucky Derby.

Peter Max Finkelstein born in 1937 at Berlin later he lived in China and Israel before his family settled in New York City.

Max is survived by his daughter Libra and son Adam. His daughter described him as a caring father who used his art to make people happy.

Max faced controversy over tax evasion in the 1990s, but it can’t stop him to continue to be a prominent name in American pop art and left a lasting mark on the art world.
