Nana Patekar Passes Away at 75 After Cardiac Arrest

Bollywood veteran actor Nana Patekar has died aged 75 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest at his Goa residence.

As per Indian media reports, Patekar reportedly lost consciousness after suffering chest pain. Medical professionals tried to revive him through CPR before he was taken to the hospital.

According to New agency ANI, Dr Shehkar Salkar, head of oncology at Goa’s Manipal Hospital, as saying that Patekar was confirmed dead early Thursday morning. A medico-legal case has been registered, and a post-mortem inspection will be carried out.

Nana Patekar had an inspiring career that extend over nearly 50 years. He made his acting debut in the 1978 film Gaman and went on to work in several Hindi and Marathi films, as well as a few Tamil and Kannada projects.

He got major acknowledgement for his performances in films such as Parinda, Agni Sakshi and Krantiveer. He won three National Film Awards, counting Best Supporting Actor for Parinda and Agni Sakshi, and Best Actor for Krantiveer.

Patekar was also pleased with the Padma Shri in 2013, one of India’s highest civilian awards.

A new generation of fans especially remembered him for his popular role as gangster Uday Shetty in the 2007 comedy film Welcome, which became one of his most widely loved performances.
