Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has vowed that the Pakistan Army will intensify its campaign against what the military describes as India-backed terrorist groups, pledging to hit them hard wherever they operate.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir made the remarks during a visit to Corps Headquarters in Peshawar on Friday, where he received a briefing on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The briefing covered ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of military formations deployed across the province.

The military’s media wing said the army chief commended the morale and professionalism of officers and troops. He directed personnel to maintain vigilance and the highest standards of operational readiness to respond effectively to security threats.

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed the military’s commitment to continuing operations against groups described by Pakistan as India-sponsored terrorist outfits.

“The campaign against India-sponsored terrorist outfits will continue to the fullest, and we will hit them hard wherever they are,” the ISPR statement said, summarising his position.

Tribute to Security Forces and Their Sacrifices

During the visit, the CDF and COAS also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistani people and security personnel who have lost their lives or sustained injuries during the fight against terrorism.

The ISPR statement highlighted the contributions of Shuhada and Ghazis from the security forces, recognising their role in counter-terrorism operations across the country.

Field Marshal Munir expressed confidence that continued public support would help Pakistan defeat terrorist groups and their ideology.

The statement said the military leadership remained determined to achieve what it described as the total defeat of terrorism, with cooperation between security forces and the public considered central to the effort.

Security Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a key focus of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts. The visit to Peshawar provided an opportunity for the military leadership to review operational developments, border security arrangements and the readiness of formations deployed in the province.

The ISPR did not provide further details about specific operations discussed during the briefing or announce new measures arising from the visit.

The military’s statement reiterated its resolve to continue counter-terrorism operations and maintain operational preparedness against threats to Pakistan’s security.
