Govt Not Responsible for Fuel Price Increase: Rana Sanaullah
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah has warned that any political party that does not sincerely stand with Pakistan’s security forces in the fight against terrorism could be sidelined from the political process.
Speaking during a discussion, Sanaullah said the elimination of terrorism from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a priority and stressed that lasting improvements in people’s lives would not be possible without ending the threat.
He said the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had sought Rs160 billion in funding, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved immediately. Sanaullah linked the funding request to efforts to address the province’s security challenges and reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism.
Sanaullah said national unity was essential to the counter-terrorism effort, adding that political parties would need to demonstrate sincere support for the security forces. He warned that parties unwilling to support the anti-terrorism agenda could face political consequences.
His remarks come amid continued debate over security and governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where counter-terrorism efforts remain a key political issue.
On the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment, Sanaullah said no discussions had taken place and no draft had been presented. His statement offered no further details about whether the amendment was being considered for future negotiations.
He called for the entire nation to unite against terrorism, presenting the fight against militant violence as a priority requiring cooperation beyond party lines.
